About Burl Horniachek
Burl grew up near Edmonton, went to the University of Toronto to study Ancient Near Eastern Studies (Hebrew/Ancient Israel) and eventually came back to study creative writing with Nobel Prize winner Derek Walcott at the University of Alberta. His wife is from Winnipeg and they now live in Selkirk. He worked for many years as a high school teacher, but now mostly takes care of their two children.
